August 14

Doors at 6PM
Show at 7PM

Generation Women celebrates and amplifies women’s voices and creativity. Six women of note read an original piece on a theme. Of those women, one is in her 20s, her 30s, her 40s, her 50s, her 60s, and her 70s+. Our diverse line-ups will make you laugh, cry, and think. Generation Women is a unique, intimate literary salon that brings together women of all ages. All are welcome to join us for our annual "Best Of" show, for one night only at Joe's Pub.

Team 20: Ashley Gavin is a national touring comedian. Her comedy has been featured on Hulu, SiriusXM, Refinery29, and more. She's best known for her hard-hitting, intelligent, and sometimes absurd social commentary, and her webseries Gay Girl Straight Girl has over 400k views and has been featured in Galore Mag.

Team 30s: Jen Kwok is a Chinese-American writer-performer who can be seen on this season of Netflix’s Friends From College. As a singer-songwriter, Jen will be releasing an EP later this year based on "Songs for One," an intimate concert series in which she has performed one-on-one for over 100 individuals.

Team 40s: Verta Maloney is all love with appropriate doses of rage. Verta is a storyteller, yogi, mama warrior and anti-racism facilitator. She currently runs her own business helping individuals and organizations share their racial autobiographies and stories in order to act on and undo racism in this lifetime.

Team 50s: Fiona Davis is the bestselling author of The Dollhouse, The Address, and The Masterpiece. She came to New York as an actor, working on Broadway and off, before enrolling in Columbia Journalism School and eventually settling down as an author of historical fiction.

Team 60s: Martha Frankel is a writer, knitter, poker player, and yenta. She is the executive director of Woodstock Bookfest and the host of Woodstock Booktalk. She runs seasonally in Woodstock NY. Her memoir, Hats & Eyeglasses, traces her addiction to gambling.

Team 70s: Verna Gillis is a freelance producer with a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology who gained recognition for her work promoting and producing music from various cultural backgrounds. She now performs her one older-woman show, Tales From Geriassic Park—On the Verge of Extinction, and has published a book of one-liners, I Just Want to be Invited—I Promise Not to Come.
